The DFW Chhath Pooja & Cultural Center (DFWCPCC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization rooted in the traditions of the Madhesi community from the southern Terai region of Nepal. Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, we are committed to preserving and promoting Madhesi cultural heritage in the United States.
Our signature event is the annual Chhath Puja, which brings together Nepali-Americans and friends from all backgrounds to celebrate community, faith, and tradition. This sacred festival honors the Sun God and promotes environmental consciousness.
While deeply rooted in Madhesi traditions from Nepal's Terai region, our events welcome all who wish to participate and learn about our rich cultural heritage.
Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun God (Surya) and his consort. It is celebrated with great devotion and involves rituals performed at sunrise and sunset near water bodies.
The festival promotes environmental awareness, community bonding, and spiritual purification through fasting, prayer, and offerings to nature.
DFWCPCC was established by dedicated members of the Madhesi community from Nepal's southern Terai region living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who wanted to preserve and share their cultural traditions with future generations.
Over the years, our celebrations have grown from small gatherings to large community events that attract hundreds of participants from across Texas and neighboring states.
Today, DFWCPCC serves as a cultural bridge, helping preserve Madhesi traditions while fostering understanding and appreciation of our heritage from Nepal's Terai region in the broader DFW community.
Building strong bonds within our community and welcoming all who wish to participate in our cultural celebrations.
Preserving and passing down our rich cultural heritage to future generations while adapting to modern times.
Welcoming people from all backgrounds to learn about and participate in our cultural celebrations and community activities.
